  • NAPLES, ITALY - 22 January 2014: Tommaso Sodano (56), deputy mayor and council responsable for the environment of the city of Naples, is interviewed in his office at the town hall in Naples, Italy, on January 22nd 2014. The city of Naples started a pilot project in the district of Vomero-Arenella aimed at busting irresponsible dog owners from leaving their pets' feces in the street. Blood samples are being collected from the approximately 8,000 dogs living in the neighborhood of 110,00 inhabitants. (the city of Naples counts a total of 960,000 people and 60,000 dogs). In a few months city street cleaners  will locate the excrements, call the police who will send a sample to a laboratory where DNA will be extracted and compared with the results of blood samples.
