As the 2021 G20 Summit in the Italian capital this weekend, climate activists marched in Rome to urge the Group of 20 leaders to act urgently amid a time of unprecedented interest in climate change and social justice. The environmentalist march was joined by workers’ unions and factory workers who are seizing the opportunity to voice anger at the elites.
The Fridays for Future movement started by Greta Thunberg's School Strike For Climate protest said the young people will make their voices heard against "the same powers, the same interests, the same injustices that led us to the climate crisis". Their statement pointed out that 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from G20 countries.
