The large film studio Cinecittà Studios is having a post covid renaissance and is back to being a hub for creative discussion. Thanks to PNRR funds (The Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and an ambitious industrial plan, Europe's oldest film studios aim at being also be the most competitive. Approximately half of the productions currently at work are Italian and the other half is foreign. Furthermore, an agreement has been signed with Fremantle, the British multinational television production and distribution company.
With an area of 400,000 square metres (99 acres), it is the largest film studio in Europe, and is considered the hub of Italian cinema. The studios were constructed during the Fascist era as part of a plan to revive the Italian film industry.
