DAFNI, MOUNT ATHOS, GREECE - 11 MAY 2014: A ferry arrives in the port of Dafni, in the monastic state of Mount Athos, Greece, on May 11th 2014. Dafni is used mainly as a port and an entry point to the Athonite monastic state, with daily ferries from the town of Ouranoupolis, Chalcidice. The 2001 Greek national census reported a population of 38 inhabitants.

A World Heritage Site and autonomous polity in the Hellenic Republic, Athos is home to 20 stavropegial Eastern Orthodox monasteries under the direct jurisdiction of the patriarch of Constantinople.
